Hannah Rosenfield
Mathematics and Statistics Tutor, Founder
Math was not always fun for me. In fact, I dropped into the lowest level class in high school and told my teacher that I would never use math again in my life. It wasn't until I studied with a great tutor to fill in my knowledge gaps that things changed. I found someone who believed in me, encouraged me, and convinced me that I was capable of true mastery. Slowly, concepts that had once seemed so daunting and impossible became comfortable and even enjoyable. With this new-found belief in myself, math suddenly became fun.
Thanks to my improvements, I was accepted into prestigious universities including Carnegie Mellon University and New York University. At Carnegie Mellon, I was on the Dean's List with High Honors in both fall 2017 and spring 2018. I was a member of Lambda Sigma and a Dietrich College Peer Advisor. I also played on the varsity tennis team and was an ITA Scholar. I later transferred to the University of Florida, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in statistics with a minor in business administration.
Since then, I have dedicated thousands of hours supporting hundreds of students in the fields of mathematics and statistics.
I was born in Manchester, England. Although I have lived in Florida for almost all my life, I like to think I have managed to keep my British accent. I love cats, Disney, the ocean, podcasts, and any type of trivia game or brain teaser.
Ioana Robles
Mathematics Tutor
I am a math educator with over 20 years of experience teaching everything from middle school math up to calculus. I earned my B.S. in Mathematics with Honors from Cal State Dominguez Hills after originally starting out in architecture. I quickly realized that what I loved most was the math, and I haven’t looked back since.
A key part of my work has involved supporting teachers through co-planning, mentoring, and leading professional development across school districts. Currently, I teach and tutor grades 6 through precalculus and continue to enjoy creating meaningful, accessible learning experiences for my students.
I believe math is a language, and although students may struggle with parts of it, it’s not all or nothing. I’m skilled at breaking down difficult concepts into simple pieces, helping students understand that math isn’t magic—it’s about recognizing patterns, sticking with it, and believing in yourself. From both online tutoring and in-person teaching, I’ve learned many ways to approach problems, and I grow alongside my students. Above all, I work to create a learning environment where students feel safe to make mistakes without fear of judgment. When students feel supported and seen, real learning—and confidence—can flourish.
Outside of math, I love dancing, taking long walks, and caring for my five rescue pets: Miss Mary, my 20-year-old disabled kitty; Nalah, my 15-year-old pitbull; and three senior cats—Lucy, Desi, and Mama Kitty—each of whom adds a unique spark to my life.
Dr. Brandon Aho, Ph.D.
Physics Tutor
Throughout my schooling, I have always enjoyed helping my classmates to understand various concepts within our courses. This passion led me to pursue a thesis on how students understand physics concepts as part of my B.S. in Physics and Education at Grand Valley State University, and later to complete a teacher certification program in both math and physics. I went on to attain my Ph.D. in physics from the University of Maine where I was able to teach a variety of physics courses and lead countless help sessions. Combined with my experience tutoring and teaching summer school throughout my undergraduate career, I bring over 10 years of experience as an educator and I continue to love what I do.
My end goal for my students is to prepare them to lead their own solutions. The core of my strategy is asking targeted questions which help guide my students on how to reason through problems without removing the need to provide reasoning themselves. My students all bring unique perspectives and strategies for approaching problems and it is always great to explore each possibility. It is important to have confidence in trying methods that appear easy, but even more so with those that appear hard. Only by doing what we once thought impossible can we achieve new breakthroughs. I will support my students and help them elevate their confidence to tackle the next big challenges that come their way.
Outside of teaching, I am a biophysical researcher, I love most anything outdoors, and I welcome any opportunity for a new experience. Among my favorite activities are throwing a frisbee around and exploring nature. I love getting to know my students’ interests and goals as well and am always open to a new story.
Erica Holtgraver
Chemistry & Biology Tutor
While I was completing my undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, I began tutoring organic chemistry and fell in love with teaching. This led me to complete my master’s degree in secondary science education, where I earned certifications in teaching chemistry, biology, and general science. From there, I worked for seven years at a rigorous independent college prep high school teaching Honors and AP Chemistry along with other science electives in a caring, individualized way.
I've worked with hundreds of high school students in both chemistry and biology, and helped improve their AP performance, scores on standardized exams, and most importantly, their understanding the content. Some of my students have gone on to attend Ivy League schools and competitive medical programs (including the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine).
I take an organized, simple, and social approach to teaching science. I love getting to know my students and what they are interested in, so that I can make our lessons fun and engaging. Chemistry and biology are truly beautiful subjects that can give us insights into life, energy, and materials. In the words of Carl Sagan, "We are all made of star stuff.”
